10 Keys to Personal Power
Brian Tracey
Key 1: Clarity
"Have vision. Determine what you want to be, do or have in life. Have a sense of direction and know where you’re going. If you do not have clear specific goals in life, you are doomed forever to work for others who do."
Clarity is the quality of being clear knowing what you want to be and do in life. This key helps you in the future because you will be prepare you and you will kinda get a idea of what you are going to be and do in your life. Also to write down goals to help you accomplish them, like a Life Planning Goal Journal which will help you a lot and every time you complete something you write victory next to it to know you do it and need many more to goal. And you can write down goals that will take super long. For example, I want to go to Paris and your a 12 year old thinking ahead which is good to know what to do with your life.
Key 2: Competence
"If you commit to excellence, opportunities will always come your way. The harder you work, the better you get."
All want from you is to try your best at things. Giving your all to everything that you do. School is number 1, trying your very best means having a chance to be successful. Closer to reaching your career dreams by having amazing grades. Graduating with honors and being remembered as a student that really committed to school. Colleges and Universities will want you, which gives you a lot of opportunities to be successful. Which goes to show that the harder you work, opportunities will come your way. All because you stayed committed to your future. I would want to not only graduate but improve in my health and talents like drawing, singing, playing trumpet and guitar. If I become committed to myself on those perks, expect that i'll be successful.
Key 3: Concentration
"Make the best use of your time. Ask yourself “Is this the best use of my time?” before you start anything."
Key 4: Common Sense
Key 3: Concentration
"Make the best use of your time. Ask yourself “Is this the best use of my time?” before you start anything."
Concentration requires you to put effort on what you are doing. Depending the activity or assignment, the more concentration you are using. Concentration is the what we all do to complete something, but don't waste the energy to start concentrating if it's not what you want. Think about it, why would why play violin, if I want to play trumpet, waste of concentration. When you really desire this activity, you can surely tell that he or she is concentrating. Putting there efforts on one instrument, concentrating on what note to play and how they are performing. Concentration really helps but comes at a price, anyone can break your concentration or even yourself. Try not to doubt yourself or overthink while you are concentrating, which it can break the concentration. It can also happen in assignments, that when you really should concentrate. But the again what subject are you struggling with and what are you passing. If you are very good at a subject, don't waste your energy on it, instead concentrate on the one you are failing. Knowing this will result in good scores.
Key 4: Common Sense
- Train your mind
- think things through
- listen to your intuition
- learn from setbacks
Common sense is what we all need, apparently not everyone has it. Without it, it makes you look dumb, no matter how smart you are. A degree means nothing if you don't have common sense on you. I've heard of a saying for common sense that I found very interesting and convincing. And I quote,"It is a thousand times better to have common sense without education than to have an education and no common sense." You have to be paying attention more often than usual. From simple instructions to simple jokes, you have to be smart about it. Train your mind so the more you know, the better you have of not making a fool of yourself. Think about it, we might all think fast, but being proficient of your answer is better than a wild guess. So please, think about what is going on and never make a fool of yourself.
Be consistent in your relationships, your family, friends, your boss, your work. Be the person that people can depend upon. That if you say you’ll do something you do it.."
"Except the fact that every human being is a genius. The hallmark of creativity is asking questions. The people who are most creative ask the most questions."
Creativity is a very interesting word, for the fact that you are committed to that will show you the beauty of it. Creativity is all in us, half of our brain would possess creativity. The other half would be intelligence. You see modern and past art, that is a good example of creativity. Imagining the image in ones head, using multiple colors to make it more appealing, even decoration or adding important details in your art. Art in the past was very detailed, describing what happened, it's been the same from generations and generations. People today witnessed the beauty of creativity, some have it naturally and some put it to practice. I draw myself, not going to lie, it was amazing, right when I'm officially done, I have a huge smile on my face seeing my work that took long and a lot of patience be finally done. I start on with another drawing, because art is infinite, why stop when I become even better now. Creativity is infinite and it will never stop, having that set of mind will take you places.
Key 6: Consideration
"The quality of your relationships with other people will determine your success in life."
"Develop the people skills you need to become a better communicator. Take courses in listening, speaking, etc."
"If you were to learn one new word a day, within 5 years, you’ll be the best educated person in history."
When I say consideration I mean that you have to consider everything that could happen due to a choice you make. Also, this key which is consideration can be used when you have to think about others before you choose to make an action. By think about others, I mean that you have to think abut how they would feel or think when something is said or done. It is great to be considerate because you should want everyone to like you because when people like you, they can put in a work for you. When I say, put in a word for you, I mean that they can back you up when you are in a bad position. An example of this can be when you are blamed or falsely accused of a crime you didn't commit. If a person such as a principle or teacher like you, they could help you and back you up because they know that you are a great person. Being considerate will get you for in life and help you be more well liked by others.
Key 7: Consistency
"Dependable, steady predictable work is always superior to fast spurts of work."
Be consistent in your relationships, your family, friends, your boss, your work. Be the person that people can depend upon. That if you say you’ll do something you do it.."
Being consistent means to always bring your A game and keep on giving effort in a steady way which is not decreasing or slowing down. When you are consistent you are never dropping, you aren't going down. Being consistent means to not increase nor decrease, it means to be effective over time. Being consistent at work is a great way to keep your job because when you are consistent at work, you are still putting in as much work as when you started to the job with the best amount of effort. Consistency is also something very important to athletes of all castigators. This is because if an athlete starts to show signs that they are slowing down, then it might be a early sign of losing.
Key 8: Commitment
"No success is possible without commitment. The ability to commit yourself whole heartily is the basis of achieving all success."
"Become totally absorbed in your work. Be totally committed."
This is what I expect from everyone, since everyone commits at something they love, required, or have to do. Commitment is very important for everyone. Since that's the only way to do everyday chores, requirements from school, etc. Students who commit to their work will expect a good future with good grades and good talents. Students that don't commit to what they have to do will expect a disastrous future ahead of them. It would never happen if you just do what you have to. No success is possible without commitment. If you want to improve on a sport, stay committed to it, in exchange, amazing talent at the sport. Now Academically will have to have full commitment in order to pass the class. That's just how it works, at least you gain something that can help you in your future in any career you are going for. Commitment can even be in our social, being committed to a person can make you gain a friend that will support and commit for you and you for him. Also in relationships, the happy and long lasting couples are the committed, making everything go very amazing. I would say, when I have a family, I would stay very committed to keep my loving wife and amazing kids, I don't ever want to lose them and be seen as a bad image, that's why I stay committed because it is important to me.
Key 9: Courage
"The fear of failure is the single greatest reason for failure in life."
To have courage you must not let the fear take you over. You have to conquer your fears in order to be able to do what scares you the most. To have courage it means you aren't afraid of standing up for what you believe in. If you see someone bothering another person, you will go up and tell them to leave them alone. You will be able to stand in front of an audience and give your explanation on what you believe is right. If you let your fears take over you, then you won't get anything done in life. There's this quote is the movie Cinderella Story and it states "Don't let the fear of striking out keep you from playing the game." It refers to baseball or softball and its for the players to remember if you keep the thought of striking out in your mind, then it will keep you from playing the game. You will be too focused on striking out rather than actually having fun and enjoying the game. It's good to have courage because then you will feel you can accomplish anything in the world. Tell yourself you can do it and at the end of the day, you will accomplish anything. Do what scares you the most because after you will feel good about yourself. You won't be afraid of accomplishing anything else.
Key 10: Confidence
"You only get confidence by doing things over and over again ."
I believe confidence has a really big meaning to life. Everything that you ever accomplish and finish during your life was because you believed in yourself. You told yourself "I can do it" even if you felt like you couldn't. You believed in yourself even if other people doubted you throughout life. You always kept your head high and not let people's negative thoughts get to you. You believed in yourself when you took the finals for your school. You believed in yourself when you turned in those assignments for your grade to be good. If you ever get into the position where you feel like you won't be able to accomplish anything in the world, look at where you are now. Look at how far you have come and tell yourself that it's too late to back down now. Have confidence in your work, your relationship, your education etc. If there are people out there telling you you can't do it, don't take it personal amd let it tear you down. In fact, prove them wrong. Show them that no matter how many times they doubted you, you still came up on top. If you let people's words get to you then you won't be able to go on living life. Those words will be replaying in your mind that you will soon believe the lies these people are telling you. Let the words be an inspiration that YOU CAN DO ANYTHING. You will get that dream job of yours, you will become successful as anyone else in this world. Success starts with believing in yourself.
